Russia said that the US has not granted visas to Foreign Minister Lavrov to the UN meeting
Russia asked the US to issue 56 visas for Foreign Minister Lavrov and delegation to New York to attend the UN annual meeting, but have not received feedback.
In the letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres that Reuters saw on September 2, the Russian Ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzia said that the necessary documents were submitted to the US Embassy in Moscow, but Washington has not responded to it.

Nebenzia added that no US visa was granted to journalists to accompany Mr. Lavrov as well as flight team members.

Nebenzia asked Mr. Guterres to once again emphasize to US officials that they must quickly grant visas as required to all Russian delegates and accompanying people, including Russian journalists.
The UN spokesman Eri Kaneko said the Secretary -General and other senior officials were closely related to the US and Russia for visas.
The US State Department spokesman said Washington attaches great importance to his obligations as the UN headquarters, adding that the visa record is confidential according to the US law, so they cannot comment on individual cases.
